JOHN CLARK - ARTIST AND POET

Testimonials

I ordered 'The Cockle Boat' as a gift from my father in law, he absolutely loved it, such a beautiful picture. What made this additionally special, was that the artist - John Clark - personally framed and hand delivered it. I really couldn't ask for more. Would highly recommend the studio.

A gifted artist with creative abilities beyond the imagination! John Clark's artistic impression is the essence of his inner spirit and personal vision and the resulting image in the mesmerizing "Burns Walk" print is one of incredible peace and tranquility. We can't wait to add to our John Clark collection!

John Clark's talents are limitless! His prose and poetry are sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, but always thought provoking and entertaining. It is impossible to choose a favorite among such a collection, but "The 'Maid O The Seas'" in particular is a special piece that eloquently and vividly recalls buried emotions from the past.

We have purchased several items - books and artwork - directly from John Clark and his gallery. His honesty and integrity, both in his artistic work and the services he provides, is beyond reproach. The appeal of his artistic expression transcends continents!

I was delighted with the print (Southerness Lighthouse) I received from the gallery. The print was intended as a gift for my mother and she too was delighted with it. I ordered the print on Tuesday afternoon and it was delivered on Wednesday morning, carefully packaged and in perfect condition. Communications with John were pleasant. I would recommend his work wholeheartedly.

Thank you so much for the print of Rosefield Mills and also the lovely poems relating to the mill. Your poem on the blowing up of the chimney stack and how at the final moment a thick mist appeared was both eerie and moving. As the mill belonged to my family, the subject is very close to my heart but regardless of that connection I find your painting a delight. With the River Nith in the foreground, to look at the painting with its subdued colours everything looks so calm and peaceful. We will definately visit your Gallery when next we visit Dumfries.

I wanted to say a big thank you for the beautiful print of Sweetheart Abbey. It was a present for my mum and dad on their 40th Wedding Anniversary; they visited the Abbey on their honeymoon. They loved the picture. It actually made my mum cry. Thank you again!

Dear Mr Clark

We have now presented the print of Devorgilla Bridge to our friend who originally came from Dumfries. He was delighted with the picture and recognised the view immediately.

I very much appreciate the prompt service you provided as I was pushed to get the print framed in time for his birthday. The print arrived the very next morning after I had placed the order with you and it was beautifully packed and protected for postage.
Finally I would like to thank you for the most professional way and friendly way in which you have dealt with my enquiry

Hi John

I just wanted to drop you a mail to say thank you, and let you know how delighted I and my wife Mary are with the painting of Morton Castle that Alan King commissioned you to do as a wedding present. I grew up in Thornhill but now live in the south of England and the painting is a wonderful reminder of Dumfries/Thornhill and has pride of place in our home. We both look at it every day and it gives us great pleasure.

Myself and my wife have visited the castle several times recently and love it there , you have managed to capture the atmosphere beautifully. I don't know if you noticed when you visited but there is a spooky echo if you shout/scream /whistle.

Again , Many thanks

Dear John
Just a little note to say that the above print arrived today and that I am very happy with it; it is so evocative!

Many thanks,

My two brothers, four sisters and I commissioned John to do a painting of my mother and fatherís home "Porterstown" for their 40th wedding anniversary. John was very friendly and easy to work with. The painting was a surprise present and John was quite flexible with his visiting arrangements to view Porterstown. Once digital photos showing the angles we wanted were taken, John got onto the painting straight away. After that he took us to a local framer to pick a lovely frame. All the process was simple and very straight forward. John had the wonderful painting finished and framed for us all in good time ready to hand over at my mum and dad's anniversary party. They were really pleased with the end results and have it proudly hung up in their most used room near the kitchen table for all visitors to admire. It was a pleasure dealing with John Clark and his prices are very reasonable. Thanks John.

Regarding the recent commission 'Inn on the Moor'-

'Having agreed to undertake the commission, John travelled to North Yorkshire to view the prospective study. The time and consideration taken resulted in the perfect present for my wife's birthday. Throughout the process, John consulted with me, ensuring that 'The Inn on the Moor',(a place we visit often and where we can be truly relaxed and at peace) was replicated exactly as I wished.

For my retiral present I wanted a painting of the hospital where I had worked for 30yrs. I wanted a view of Dumfries with the hospital in the background. John spent a lot of time an effort taking digital photographs, viewing from different areas which he then put on to his computer. I decided on one with the river and riverside in the foreground. I am very pleased with the finished painting and it has been greatly admired by friends.

I called into Landscapes Gallery in January of 2006 and purchased both a Ltd Ed print for a friend and an original painting of Sweetheart Abbey for my wife. It was a pleasure to meet John and he spent some time with me discussing interesting points on landscape painting and local history.

My wife and I were married in Sweetheart Abbey in July 2003, so it is a very special place for us. My wife (Sheala) is absolutely thrilled with her painting and has already rushed out to purchase a beautiful frame in which to mount it. It is in pride of place in our home and we both love it. It captures the unique atmosphere of the Abbey perfectly. It will be one of our most treasured possessions. I am sure that my friend will be equally delighted with his Ltd Edition print when I have the opporortunity to present it to him.

Overjoyed! that was my partner's expression on opening her lovely package containing two of John's wonderful prints. I was also overjoyed at the helpful, prompt and safe (on-line) transaction that was provided and cannot recommend John Clark's work and service highly enough.
